Atlantic Kelp or Kombu is derived from Laminaria digitata. This brown seaweed is harvested from cold waters in the North Atlantic Ocean. Atlantic Kelp contains protein and minerals such as iodine, iron and potassium as well as micronutrients. It has been used to solve problems from cell vitality, revitalizing to cellulite.
Standard product is collected by centrifugation and usually contains some fine suspension of insolubles and some minimally soluble protein with solids at 5-10%. A “totally soluble” PG extract which requires an additional filtration step to reduce suspended fines and poorly soluble components. This additional step reduces the total soluble to 2-3%.
